GHB
- GHB chemically known as Gamma Hydroxybutyric
Acid or 4 Hydroxybutanoic acid is a drug that
affects the central nervous system and is commonly
used for sleep disorders and as a local anesthetic.
GHB Abuse – GHB has and
is a commonly abused drug in the underground dance
scene, as well as in gym training due to its steroid
like traits, and very high euphoric feeling. Many
times, persons who try the drug immediately like
the effect and seek more of it. Thos persons who
abuse GHB have a high rate of becoming addicted
to the drug.
GHB Addiction – GHB Addiction
is occurs when a person can’t stop using
the drug despite the many severe consequences
it has on them. Persons who are addicted to GHB
run a high rate for medical complication due to
the seizure risk the drug has. GHB
can also cause blackouts in which individuals
are not aware of what they are doing.
GHB Detox – This is the
first step in GHB recovery. Persons who have built
a tolerance to the drug as well as a physical
dependence on the drug must enter a GHB Detox
facility and be under medical supervision to avoid
any medical risks or complications. While in Detox
a medical Dr slowly titrates an individual down
from the drug by using medication. After the Detox
is completed persons are highly encouraged to
go to a GHB Treatment center.
GHB Treatment – Entering
a GHB treatment center is the 2nd phase in GHB
recovery. While in a GHB treatment Center persons
attend primary groups, and personal counseling
to learn coping skills, and life skills necessary
to remain abstinent from the drug. Those persons
who complete a GHB treatment Center have a greater
chance of remaining off the drug than those who
do not.

Rehab centers specialize in treating GHB Addiction.
Persons who have been addicted to GHB for a period
of time have lost certain coping and life skills
that must be relearned through individual counseling
and group therapy. In addition many times follow
up visits with a Doctor are necessary due to the
seizure risk from GHB, as well as the half-life
of the drug within the body.
