Oxycontin
– Oxycontin is semi synthetic opioid and
also the brand name for a time released combination
of oxycodone, and several other chemicals used
to treat severe pain. Oxycontin is highly addictive
to its narcotic properties, and its quickly physical
forming dependence.
Oxycontin Abuse – Those
persons who are prescribed oxycontin or who use
the drug here and there, have a very high rate
of abusing the drug because of its intense euphoric
sensation, and long lasting effects. In addition
oxycontin comes in much different strength and
users of the drug may take more after a tolerance
has been built up within their bodies.
Oxycontin Addiction - Oxycontin
addiction is said to happen when a person
can’t stop using the drug despite the negative
consequences they have in their life. Oxycontin
is habit forming and quickly builds up in the
blood stream forming a physical dependence on
the body. Users may find they can’t stop
taking the drug cold turkey because their bodies
go into withdrawals. Users of the drug report
an immediate relaxing euphoric effect that is
long lasting.
Oxycontin Detox – Oxycontin
Detox centers help remove the main chemical oxycodone
from a person’s body slowly using a taper
method in which medication is given to help ease
a persons withdrawal symptoms. Common withdrawal
symptoms include shakes, sweats, headaches, nausea,
and vomiting. The typical length of an oxycontin
Detox can range from 7- 12 days depending upon
the amount and frequency of use.
Ocycontin treatment –
Oxycontin Treatment centers
focus specifically on those persons who are addicted
to oxycontin or who abuse the drug. This is often
considered the 2nd phase in oxycontin treatment.
While in treatment individuals learn through group
counseling 12 step recovery and personal therapy
ways to cope 1 day at a time while not using the
drug, in addiction some oxycontin treatment centers
may have a dual diagnosis component to help those
with secondary mental health conditions.
Oxycontin Rehab - Oxycontin
rehab centers help those persons addicted
to the drug or whom abuse oxycontin learn new
ways to live remaining abstinent from using the
drug. While in an oxycontin rehab center individuals
attend personal counseling session, group therapy
and participate in 12 step recovery meetings.
They begin to learn new ways to cope with everyday
life situation, and personal struggles without
using the drug. Those persons who complete an
oxycontin rehab center have a much higher chance
of long term recovery than those who do not.
